THE NATURAL COOK STUDIO

Offering professional level courses for the home cook A natural cook is someone who uses food at hand to create their meals. Our studios teach students how to cook without recipes while making uncommonly delicious dishes. We use organic, whole, ingredients and have found that this combination of quality and the creativity of our curriculum is healing. Our programs ignite creativity using a systematic “Language Of Cooking™”. Students easily adjust their dishes to be compatible with any diet.

THE MAIN COURSE

21 Hours Lecture/Demonstration: Seven 3 hour classes (individual classes not available)

Learn “the language of cooking without recipes” in a plant-based study of the food groups: whole dish-grain, vegetables, and beans in addition to soups, sauces, and meal composition. This course is appropriate for anyone interested in learning to cook without recipes. It may be adapted for allergies, food sensitivities for most health concerns, and stimulates a lifetime of cooking without boredom.

IMPROVISATION

• Prerequisite: Students select an improvisation topic after they complete the demonstration class of that topic
• 2 Hours Hands-On

This is the most important course in the Natural Cook Studio. This is our opportunity to ground the systematic approach of “the language of cooking”. After ten sessions you will be a ‘natural cook’, learning to listen and trust your choices and actions. The food in class is shared and leftovers go home with students. This course work is educational, social, and incredibly edible. There are two ways to practice this system with a teacher at hand to guide you: 1. Open session: students select ingredients and cooking methods of their choice 2.Topic sessions: teacher guides students through a variety of information on the following topics: • Knife Skills • Whole Dish-Grain • Vegetables • Beans • Soup • Sauces • Meal Composition • Vegetable Protein Fish and Shellfish • Cookies • Bars • Scones • Cake• Custard • Pie • Japanese Dishes • Greek Dishes • Thai Dishes • Italian Dishes • Mexican Dishes • American Dishes • and more
